PBB Central Zone proposes party’s leadership remains uncontested

SIBU, Jan 11: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Central Zone has given its strong support to Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to continue leading the party and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) for the sake of Sarawak’s political stability.

In a TVS news report today, PBB Supreme Council Member Safiee Ahmad said that the motion received from the 24 PBB Central Zone branches stated that the party’s top positions should not be contested.

“We place our full trust and confidence in the leadership of PBB and GPS to lead Sarawak to ensure that the rights enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), the Inter-Government Committee (IGC) Report 1962, and the Federal Constitution are restored as promised by the unity government at the federal level,” he said.

He said this when reading out the summary of the motion received from the 24 PBB branches in the Central Zone at the opening ceremony of the PBB Central Zone branch delegates meeting today which Abang Johari officiated.

Apart from that, he also said that PBB members are determined to ensure that the party’s status and role remain dominant as the backbone of GPS and the Sarawak government.

“PBB members are also determined to ensure that unity among the people of different races, religions, and cultures in Sarawak continues to be preserved and strengthened so that the community continues to live in peace and harmony,” he said.

Other proposals that were also put forward included more Village Expansion Schemes (SPK) in the Central Zone area and requesting that all previously approved SPKs be implemented with new specifications complete with basic infrastructure.

Also put forward were proposals involving efforts to speed up the process of surveying Native Customary Rights (NCR) land from Section 6 to Section 18 of the State Land Code and implementing a review to increase the quota of district or municipal council members represented by PBB Central Zone members.

At the same time, a proposal was submitted for the government to introduce a youth innovation fund to support the younger generation who want to carry out community projects or technological innovations. — DayakDaily
