KUCHING, June 19: Out of the 22 Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) members who contested for a spot on the party’s Bumiputera Wing supreme council, which comes with only 16 posts, Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni topped the list with 867 votes.
Behind Dr Hazland is Mohammad Razi Sitam with 860 votes and Datuk Abdullah Saidol with 836 votes.
Following this, the PBBÂ Demak Laut branch chairman vowed to focus on Sarawak’s social, economic, and political development.
He said in terms of economy, there is much more that needs to be done, especially to improve the economic status of the people in urban and rural areas.
According to him, raising the level of education, dealing with social problems, and enhancing human capital development are also challenges that need to be addressed.
“Politically, we have to ensure that PBB remains the pillar of the political struggle of Sarawak,” he told reporters during a press conference held after the PBB Supreme Council Bumiputera Wing election at the Borneo Convention Center Kuching (BCCK) today.
The Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability also thanked all 82 PBB branch delegates for their votes and support.
Other members voted into the supreme council are Aidel Lariwoo (830), Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman (824), Shafiee Ahmad (824), Razaili Gapor (806), Awla Dris (798), Yusuf Abdul Wahab (789), Dato Dr Juanda Jaya (784), Mohamad Duri (779), Awangku Jinal Abedin Dato Pangiran Jawa (766), Dato Haidar Khan Asghar Khan (755), Mohammed Kamaluddin Mohamad Effendie (687), Mohamad Sardon Zainal (615), and Syed Hamzah Datuk Wan Hamid Edruce (529). — DayakDaily
