BETONG, Jan 25: The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu Betong Zone has proposed the inclusion of Sarawak’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), the Inter-Governmental Committee (IGC) Report, Constitution of Sarawak, and the Federal Constitution in the national education syllabus.

This was among the 14 resolutions adopted during the PBB Betong Zone delegates’ conference at the Tan Sri Stephen Kalong Ningkan Hall today.

PBB vice-president Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, who read the resolutions, said it has been proposed that the syllabus be mandatory to take and pass.

“This is important so there is no misunderstanding about Sarawak’s rights in Malaysia. If there is a misunderstanding in us demanding our rights, it can cause envy towards us,” he said as reported by TVS.

The remaining 13 resolutions are:

  1. For Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to retain his position as PBB president uncontested.
  2. For Deputy Premiers Satuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan to remain as the party’s deputy presidents uncontested, as well as for Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom as senior vice-presidents.
  3. Party members are to give their full trust and support to PBB and Gabungan Parti Sarawak to lead Sarawak and ensure the State’s rights under the Federal Constitution, MA63, and the IGC Report are restored.
  4. To support the strategic move of PBB and the GPS component parties to demand respect and recognition as equal partners in Malaysia.
  5. The number of Parliamentary constituencies in Sarawak and Sabah is increased to at least 35 per cent of the total Parliamentary seats in the Dewan Rakyat.
  6. To ensure PBB’s status and role as the backbone of GPS and the Sarawak government remains.
  7. To support the Sarawak government’s efforts to ensure Petros is recognised as the sole gas aggregator in Sarawak based on the Distribution of Gas Ordinance 2016.
  8. To implement the Sarawak Gas Roadmap (GR) as planned and further diversify the downstream gas-based industry, increase job opportunities, and subsequently increase the income of Sarawak and its people.
  9. The establishment of new departments or faculties in Sarawak-owned universities and also new training institutions based on the development of the renewable energy sector, oil and gas industry, aerospace, and satellite technology in Sarawak.
