KUCHING, June 26: A passenger was pinned while the driver was unharmed after their vehicle fell into a ravine in an accident along Mile 28 at Jalan Kuching-Serian today.
According to a report from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, they received the call regarding the accident at 3.34pm, and firefighters from Bomba Siburan were deployed to the location.
“Upon arrival, firefighters found that the passenger in the front seat was pinned inside a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) while the driver managed to escape via the broken windshield.
“Firefighters then forced open the car door by using rescue tools to allow Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) personnel to examine the victim’s condition before extracting him out of the vehicle,” it said.
The victim suffered head injuries and chest pain, and following the initial treatment at the location, he was later brought to Serian Hospital.
After ensuring the situation was safe, firefighters ended the operation at 4.35pm. — DayakDaily
