Passenger killed, driver injured in Serian road crash

SERIAN, Sept 7: A 34-year-old man was killed while the driver sustained minor injuries after a car crashed along Jalan Selabi–Kampung Sorak Melayu here last night (Sept 7).

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they received an emergency call at 9.01pm and a team from the Serian Fire Station was deployed to the scene, arriving at 9.11pm.

The operation commander, PBK I Rosnani Malong, reported that the accident involved a Perodua Bezza carrying two men.

Both victims had already been pulled out of the vehicle by members of the public before firefighters arrived.

The 34-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry personnel, while the 25-year-old driver suffered minor injuries.

The deceased’s body was later handed over to the police for further action, while the injured driver received treatment.

Firefighters also conducted flushing works to clean up accident debris before wrapping up the operation at 10.22pm.

The operation involved seven firefighters with one Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and one Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle. — DayakDaily
