Pasar Tamu Bau closes for two weeks starting today until Sept 6

KUCHING, Aug 24: The Bau traders’ market or pasar tamu is closed starting today for two weeks until Sept 6.

Bau District Council, in a notice issued, however did not provide further information on the 14-day closure.

The council disclosed that resumption of the market’s operations will be announced at a later date.

It also apologised for all inconveniences caused to the business community and customers.

It is worth noting that Bau is among the districts in Kuching Division that is seeing a spike in Covid-19 cases in the past one week.

The 47 new infections recorded yesterday (Aug 23) brought the district’s cumulative total of positive cases to 2,442.

On Aug 16, Bau logged a record high of 238 cases, followed by 22 cases on Aug 17, 99 cases on Aug 18, 131 cases on Aug 20, 103 cases on Aug 21 and 167 cases on Aug 22.

According to a State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) daily report, Bau has registered a total of 1,160 local cases in the past 14 days.

Of the figure, 1,100 are active cases still receiving treatment and in isolation in healthcare facilities. ā€” DayakDaily
