Para Sukma 2024: Sarawak’s boccia trio wins 3rd gold, contingent ends campaign in 1st place

KUCHING, Sept 27: Sarawak’s boccia trio, consisting of Dale Adelric Teri, Angeline Melissa Lawas and Tay Boon Seng have won the gold medal in the mixed team BC1/BC2 event at the Para Malaysia Games (Para Sukma) XXI Sarawak 2024 held at Sarawak Basketball Association Hall in Taman Seng Goon here today.

They defeated Sabah’s team comprising Arby Rodziary Ariffin, Yucaristia Gallilea Lee, and Zulkarnain Malateh, who secured the silver medal.

Meanwhile, Terengganu’s trio Mohamad Aswandi Ayub-Mohd Rizaili Muda-Hee Sin Chee defeated Penang’s Lim Chun Tian-Ooi Wan Chean-Muhammad Aiman Hakim Abdul Razak for the bronze medal.

Today’s harvest is Sarawak’s third gold medal after Dale Adelric Teri won the men’s individual BC2 event while Angeline Melissa Lawas won the women’s individual BC1 event.

This brought the medal count tally to three gold, three silver and two bronze for Sarawak’s boccia squad, ending their Para Sukma campaign in first place today.

Terengganu’s contingent finished in second place with two gold and one bronze, while Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Perak jointly won the third place with one gold medal each.

For the record, Sarawak’s three silver medals were delivered by Muhd Nur Sharizan Ikhwan Abdullah Saparudin in the men’s individual BC1 event, Sheirviana Mathew (women’s individual BC3) and Nur Aisyah Madzelan (women’s individual BC1).

On the other hand, the two bronze medals were delivered by Willyien Cliff Honseng in men’s individual BC1 event and Jervis Chi Hong Zhe in men’s individual BC3 event. — DayakDaily
