KUCHING, Sept 27: Sarawak’s para table tennis team has achieved its target of earning three gold medals in the Para Malaysia Games (Para Sukma) XXI Sarawak 2024.
The first gold was delivered by paddler Chow Mei Hsia in the women’s wheelchair singles open event taking place at SJK(C) Chung Hua No.3 in Padungan here on Monday (Sept 23).
The silver medal went to Sabah’s Rahimah Andungai while the bronze went to Perak’s Nurul Fathiah Jamaluddin.
Sarawak’s second gold medal was contributed by Bivyana Ujai who defeated compatriot Kuok Zhi Chen in the women’s standing singles 11 event on Wednesday (Sept 25).
The final gold for the host State was achieved by Gloria Gracia Wong Sze after she defeated Terengganu’s Nurul Nasuha Mohd Anuar in the women’s standing singles 9-10 event on the same day.
At the same time, Sarawak’s duo Simon Toh Kai Zhe-Stanley Ling Sien Seng settled for a silver medal after they failed to beat Kelantan’s Jennahtul Fahmi Ahmad Jennah-Muhammad Riduan Yaakob in the men’s standing doubles MD22 event on Tuesday (Sept 24). — DayakDaily
