KUCHING, Sept 27: The Sarawak contingent is just two gold medals away from achieving its goal of 83 golds at the Para Malaysia Games (Para Sukma) XXI Sarawak 2024.

Sarawak Minister of Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWK) Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, who is the responsible minister for the Games, noted that there are not many events left before its closing ceremony.

“We don’t have many events left—para tenpin bowling and para lawn bowls will take place this evening, and there will only be para lawn bowls tomorrow (Sept 28).

“Even if our closest competitor—Sabah—wins, I think we (Sarawak) will still be ahead.

“Now we are trying to give our support to the para tenpin bowling and para lawn bowls athletes to get two more golds to reach the target of 83 golds that we have aimed for,” she said in a short statement via WhatsApp today.

Sarawak is currently leading in the medal standings with 81 gold, 51 silver, and 72 bronze medals, leaving Sabah far behind in second place with 62 gold, 42 silver, and 31 bronze.

There are about ten more gold medals up for grabs before the Para Sukma ends tomorrow (Sept 28). — DayakDaily
