KUCHING, Nov 11: Development in Pantu continues to gain momentum with several key infrastructure projects underway, reflecting the Sarawak government’s commitment to improving facilities and uplifting rural communities.
Balai Ringin assemblyman Datuk Snowdan Lawan said the relocation of the Pantu District Office to a new site near Kampung Sungai Merah along the Pan Borneo Highway marks a significant milestone in the district’s growth.
“A sum of RM5.0 million had been allocated by SADA (Sri Aman Development Agency) to cover preliminary works cost,” he said when officiating at the Majlis Merarau (lunch fundraising event) organised by the St Stephen Church community over the weekend.
He further highlighted that the Panggau Pantu (dataran) costing RM2.20 million via RTP (Rural Transformation Project) funding is also now under construction.
Snowdan further expressed appreciation for the government’s continued support through the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR). He said the RM800,000 grant channelled to St Stephen Church last year was an example of inclusive development under the State’s leadership.
To support the church’s fundraising event, Snowdan granted a sum of Minor Rural Projects (MRP) of RM10,000 to the church’s main committee and RM5,000 to the church Womens’ Fellowship and air-conditioning units for use by the church.
Also present during the event were community leaders, Penghulu Johnny Lumi, Penghulu Obeng, village chieftains, and members of Pantu’s Christian community. – DayakDaily
