PANTU, April 9: The proposed establishment of the Pantu District Council is seen as a strategic move to strengthen local governance while enhancing the efficiency and delivery of public services to the community.
According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), the proposal was deliberated during a special session held at the Pantu District Office yesterday (April 8), bringing together administrative officials and key stakeholders to assess the necessity and suitability of forming a district council in the area.
Among the key highlights was a comprehensive briefing on the background of Pantu District, followed by detailed discussions on the procedures, requirements and guidelines involved in setting up a district council.
Participants also exchanged views on administrative considerations, including proposals and feedback on additional support needed to ensure the smooth implementation of the initiative.
The establishment of the district council is also expected to accelerate infrastructure development, improve the management of public facilities, and support more structured and sustainable planning for the district.
During the session, participants underscored the importance of strong inter-agency coordination, sufficient human and financial resources, and active community engagement to ensure the proposal’s success.
The discussion marks an important first step towards establishing the Pantu District Council, in line with broader efforts to drive rural development in the Sri Aman Division. — DayakDaily
