KUCHING, Oct 30: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will not back down from contesting any of the 82 seats in the upcoming Sarawak Election, with its component parties ready to face any challengers, including the Democratic Action Party (DAP), Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS).
Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) information chief Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the coalition remained firm in its stance, stressing that it would not retreat from any constituency.
“For everyone in GPS, whether from PBB or the other component parties, kita pantang mengalah, kita pantang mengundur (we never admit defeat, we never back down),” he told reporters after the Sarawak Esports Expo (SAREX) 2026 press conference at Petra Jaya today.
Abdul Karim said Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg had already made clear after the GPS meeting that the coalition would contest all 82 seats.
“That means we are not afraid. We will contest every seat. We will not back down from any of them,” he said.
He said GPS was prepared to take on any parties contesting against it, expressing confidence that many of its opponents would lose their grip on power.
Abdul Karim also urged all eligible voters, particularly first-time voters aged 18 and above, to exercise their democratic rights in the upcoming Sarawak Election. — DayakDaily
