KUCHING, July 1: Pantai Damai assemblyman Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi urged parties in the haj sector, such as travel agents, companies, and even individuals, to avoid being involved in haj scams.
According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Dr Abdul Rahman, who is also Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication, said that such fraudulent actions would not benefit anyone.
“I would like to give a message to Muslims, especially those who carry out the task of sending pilgrims to haj, to carry out their duties with prudence and avoid the occurrence of ‘scams’ as happened recently,” he told reporters when met after a Majlis Ibadah Korban Aidiladha organised by PBB Pantai Damai branch today.
He added that performing haj is important for Muslims, and fraudulence in this context has marred religious and moral values held in high regard.
“Such scam-like actions do not bring good to any party, but instead, it causes loss and discontent to those involved,” he said. — DayakDaily
