KUCHING, Feb 17: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak hopes that there will be no act of sabotage in the investigation and prosecution of individuals allegedly involved in the Pandora Papers scandal.
PKR Sarawak deputy chairman Abun Sui Anyit applauded the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in its recent social media announcement on the ongoing probe against a former finance minister who is allegedly involved in the mega financial scandal.
According to him, it is important for Malaysian citizens and leaders who love this country to support the actions of the authorities to investigate the hundreds of billions of ringgits, and if convicted, the money must be returned to the country and the people.
“Any individual involved should be investigated appropriately and brought to justice. Entrusted authorities must carry out their responsibilities with full integrity and without fear or bias.
“It is hoped that there will be no acts of treachery or sabotage by members of the authorities in the investigation process and the legal process, including the prosecution of the parties involved in the Pandora Papers scandal,” he said in a statement today.
He also said if the money involved in the Pandora Papers scandal, which is said to be worth trillions of ringgits, can be returned to the country, it will help the well-being of Malaysians, especially under the leadership of Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who prioritises the people of Malaysia in the spirit of Malaysia Madani (Malay acronym for ‘Script’, which stands for sustainability, care and compassion, respect, innovation, prosperity, and trust).
The Pandora Papers are a data leak worth 2.9 terabytes that the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) published in Oct 2021.
The leak allegedly exposed the secret offshore accounts of world leaders, including current and former presidents, prime ministers, heads of state, billionaires, celebrities, and business leaders. — DayakDaily
