SARIKEI, June 19: Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) will look into resolving issues raised by local folk on the difficulty of turning around at the Jakar Section along the Pan Borneo Highway.
Deputy Premier of Sarawak and Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development (MIPD) Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas noted that many owners with houses located on both sides of the road had expressed their worry that the traffic system would give them difficulties in terms of turnaround time (TAT) and so on.
“Thus, JKR is already looking into their views, and within a week, they will brief me on the outcome. We need to resolve the problem,” he told reporters during his visit to the site today.
Uggah further mentioned that he was notified that floods had occurred in a certain area along the Pan Borneo Highway.
“Thus, there is a plan, and we have instructed them (JKR) to rectify and take action to ensure it should not happen again,” he added.
Uggah also mentioned that the Jakar Section is at 84 per cent completion.
Additionally, he said the Sarawak JKR is currently discussing the installation of signages and lighting at places under construction.
At the same time, Uggah advised road users to obey the traffic rules when driving along the Pan Borneo Highway.
