KUCHING, June 15: The Pan Borneo Highway and the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) project is a deviant and a game-changer for a new Sarawak, opines Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Dato Peter Minos.
In a statement, Minos said these projects would act as catalysts for further development in the coming years.
He pointed out that when the Pan-Borneo Highway is fully completed it will make life better for Sarawakians across Sarawak.
“Given time, it will open, and creating townships, business and many other good things. The spur roads that radiate from the highway will see agricultural and another deviant including tourism, manufacturing and mining,” he opined.
Minos also commended the government for the ART project in Kota Samarahan.
“It will improve the lives of the people of Samarahan and especially the thousands of students in Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sarawak.
“The ART will further reduce the daily heavy traffic in the town. The people of Samarahan and MPKS are excited about the ART project, which is expected to be completed and used by the end of 2025.”
He hoped that over time the ART project would expand to other parts of Sarawak, just like the Pan Borneo Highway, as it will provide convenience and development to the lives of Sarawakians.
Meanwhile, Minos also opined the opening of the Coastal Highway will open up coastal areas that have been neglected and left behind by the lack of good roads and connectivity.
“Credit must be given, to the Sarawak government for the strategic planning and good thinking,” he said. — DayakDaily
