KUCHING, April 19: Palliative Care Sibu (PCS) plans to collaborate with Malaysia Hospice Council and other relevant international bodies to enable its patients to have access to care and support needed.

PCS in a statement today said the association is still in its infancy and therefore requires support from the government and the public alike in order to provide quality care to those who need palliative care.

“PCS works with Hospital Sibu as its partner in providing care to palliative care patients, and serves to compliment the services provided by the public and private hospitals, private clinics and other non-governmental organisations (NGOs),” it said.

PCS noted patients who are considered requiring palliative care are those who are suffering from cancer (all form and at any stage), Cerebrovascular accident (CVA or stroke), permanent physical disabilities.

“This includes other conditions referred to PCS by doctors or carers as cases with no hope of cure or in terminal stage,” the statement read.

On another note, PCS said Jamie Tiew Yien Houng was unanimously voted as the association’s President with Matron Margareth Wong, as the vice president.

The voting process was conducted during the PCS 3rd Annual General Meeting on April 17, 2021 (Saturday) held at the association’s Secretariat office.
