KUCHING, Oct 31: His Royal Highness, the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Her Royal Highness, Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah have arrived in Kuching today to begin their four-day official visit to Sarawak.
In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) report, the former king and queen arrived at the VVIP Terminal of the Kuching International Airport (KIA) at approximately 12.10pm and were received by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Also present were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Minister for Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam, and other dignitaries.
Following a brief ‘doa selamat’ (prayer for well-being) ceremony, they proceeded to the Darul Barakah Mosque at Taman Satria Jaya BDC, to perform the Friday prayers together with the local congregation.
During their visit, the royal couple are scheduled to grace a series of official and cultural events with the Sarawak–Pahang Friendship Night at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly Complex tonight.
Tomorrow (Nov 1), they will visit Kampung Kanchong Baru in Gedong to observe the songket weaving activities at Seri Gedong Songket.
His Majesty Al-Sultan Abdullah is then scheduled to visit the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, while Her Majesty the Tengku Ampuan of Pahang will visit the Sri Kenyalang Songket Complex at the Puncak Borneo Prison.
Later in the evening, they will grace the launch of the Sarawak Drum Festival 2025 at the Kuching Waterfront, where they are also expected to watch the musical fountain performance and a fireworks display.
On Sunday (Nov 2), the royal couple will visit the Sarawak Cultural Village in the morning, before attending the closing ceremony of the Sarawak Regatta 2025 and the Borneo Craft Festival 2025 in the afternoon.
They are scheduled to depart back to Pahang on Monday (Nov 3).
This is their first visit back to Sarawak since their memorable Pan Borneo Highway road trip in 2023. — DayakDaily
