KUCHING, March 14: RHB Bank has shown compassion, flexibility and fairness to a retired couple regarding their outstanding housing loan after more than 20 years of repayment.

For that, Padungan assemblyman Chong Chieng Jen expressed relief and appreciation to RHB bank.

“Three weeks ago, the couple approached me to help resolve the matter with the bank. On their behalf, I wrote to RHB Bank and sought clarification concerning the matter.

“Ensuing from my letter, we have had several rounds of discussion with the bank. Finally, this morning, we have come to terms with the matter and reached a win-win solution for both parties.

“The borrowers are also grateful to the bank for the speedy resolution of the matter where the bank has shown a great degree of flexibility and fairness to the borrowers,” said Chong in a statement today.

On February 21, in a press statement, Chong highlighted the retired couple’s experience, who have been paying monthly instalments for their loan for more than 20 years only to find out that a very substantial part of their housing loan remained unpaid.
