KUCHING, Aug 5: The Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Kuching Branch and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Padungan Branch are strengthening grassroots coordination and consolidating their community networks in Padungan, including the Lumba Kuda area, as GPS component parties intensify engagement with residents ahead of the upcoming Sarawak Election.
The cooperation was highlighted during a courtesy visit by SUPP Kuching to PBB Padungan, where both parties discussed local development priorities, community needs and mechanisms to enhance coordination at the grassroots level.
SUPP Kuching was led by its acting chairman Jong Yean Pin alongside acting secretary Cr Nicholas Wung, while PBB Padungan was represented by its banch chairman and Batang Sadong MP Rodiyah Sapiee.
According to a statement today, the engagement reflects Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) continued effort to strengthen unity among its component parties while ensuring that issues affecting communities remain a key focus of its service agenda.
During the meeting, representatives from both parties exchanged views on the development of grassroots organisations, issues affecting residents and ways to improve coordination in delivering services to the community.
Particular attention was given to the needs and progress of the Lumba Kuda community, with both sides acknowledging the importance of maintaining close engagement with residents.
Both parties also discussed plans to organise more joint community programmes in the future, including initiatives involving senior citizens, youth and women’s groups. Such efforts are aimed at expanding community outreach, strengthening grassroots networks and enhancing public confidence in GPS.
The meeting also reinforced the importance of maintaining close cooperation among GPS component parties as Sarawak approaches the State election. Both sides emphasised the need to uphold unity, mutual trust and effective coordination at the constituency level to support political stability, economic development and the continued well-being of Sarawakians.
Throughout the engagement, SUPP Kuching and PBB Padungan introduced their respective organisational structures and shared updates on their grassroots activities. They also exchanged views on current issues in Padungan and discussed ways to further improve the effectiveness of community service delivery through closer collaboration.
As a symbol of the close relationship between the two parties, Jong presented a fruit basket to Rodiyah before both sides held a commemorative photo session.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their partnership and working together to advance people-oriented development initiatives for Padungan, Kuching and Sarawak under the GPS coalition. — DayakDaily
