KUCHING, Aug 14: The 5km Fun Run held in conjunction with the Padawan Health Carnival 2026 on Aug 22 will proceed as scheduled unless the Sarawak government issues a directive to suspend outdoor activities due to the haze.
“For now, the Fun Run, which will start at 7am, will proceed as usual until we receive a directive from the Sarawak government to ban outdoor activities,” said event secretariat officer Ayden Jayvier.
He said the organiser is closely monitoring the haze situation and will take further action based on the latest developments and any directive from the State government.
According to him, about 200 participants have registered for the run, with registration already closed.
However, he said public participation remains welcome for the health screening activities and sales booths at the carnival.
The event will be held at St Philip Parish Church in Kampung Anah Rais, Padawan, and is expected to be officiated by Deputy Minister of Transport (Aviation and Roads) Datuk Dr Jerip Susil. — DayakDaily
