KUCHING, April 12: Some 49,000 rubber farmers across the country are expected to receive a RM200 Aidilfitri Special Financial Assistance (BKKA) which will be credited into their accounts before or on April 14.

In a media release today, the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities said this will involve an allocation amounting to RM9.8 million.

Through the Malaysian Rubber Board, the special assistance of RM200 will be distributed to registered smallholders with rubber plantations exceeding 2.5 hectares up to six hectares.

In addition, the BKKA will also be channelled by the Rubber Industry Smallholder Development Authority (Risda) to smallholders who owned rubber plantations with an area of 2.5 hectares or less.

Giving assurance that the benefit will reach the target group, the Ministry hopes that the BKKA 2023 will help ease the burden of rubber smallholders across the country in meeting their needs in conjunction with the upcoming Aidildfitri celebration.

On March 29, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the Federal government has agreed to channel BKKA of RM200 to 850,000 rubber farmers, paddy farmers and fishermen, involving a total allocation of RM170 million. — DayakDaily
