KUCHING, June 21: Over 4,700 individuals comprising residents from 15 longhouses in the Sungai Asap resettlement area have received their Covid-19 jabs.

Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon said those vaccinated included residents of a Penan Belangan longhouse and workers from plantations, timber camps and other industries in the vicinity.

“The vaccination centre is at the Sungai Asap multi-purpose hall. It is open from 8am to 5pm and (operating hours) can be extended to 7pm should the need arise.

“It is, after all, the government’s objective to vaccinate all qualified citizens and non-citizens to protect them against Covid-19,” he said in a statement today.

Expressing his satisfaction with the encouraging response so far, Kennedy said he hoped those yet to get themselves vaccinated would make full use of the opportunity given.

He urged the people to make the effort to visit the vaccination centre for their inoculation shots while it is still in operation now. — DayakDaily
