“The labour market continues to show encouraging performance. Unemployment, which once reached worrying levels, has been successfully reduced from 3.9 per cent (2022) to 3.0 per cent (May 2025), the lowest in over a decade. Over 250,000 new jobs were created in 2023 and 2024.

“The Minimum Wage Rate has been increased from RM1,500 to RM1,700, effective February 1, 2025 and fully enforced from August 1, 2025,” he said during a special announcement broadcast live on local television this morning (July 23).

Anwar noted that government-linked investment companies (GLICs) and government-linked companies (GLCs) have ensured that 153,000 workers are paid at least a living wage of RM3,100 per month. — DayakDaily
