Over 4,000 gather in Baram for Good Friday, Easter

KUCHING, April 8: About 2,000 Catholics in the Miri division gathered to celebrate Good Friday at Kampung Long Banyok.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, the three-day gathering, starting April 7 until 9 (Good Friday until Easter), is to pray and welcome Easter.

Also present were the Bishop of Miri, Richard Ng and Priests of the Miri Division Catholic Churches.

On the same note, some 2,000 Borneo Evangelical Mission (BEM) Christians also gathered in Kampung Long Bemang on Friday (April 7) to welcome the Easter celebration, known locally as Irau.

Those who attended are from three districts, namely Apoh, Tutoh and Baram Tengah.

Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau and councillors Dominic Nyurang and Jok Ngau were also present at the religious gathering. — DayakDaily
