Over 400 new Covid-19 cases in Sarawak as Kuching, Miri, Sibu register triple digits

KUCHING, Feb 22: Kuching, Miri and Sibu registered triple digit Covid-19 cases today, bringing the State’s total to 441.

According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), this is the first time Sarawak has recorded daily infections passing the 400-case mark this year.


On the breakdown of the cases, Kuching reported 132, followed by Miri (111), Sibu (104), Bintulu (25), Kapit (20), Samarahan (9), Limbang (9), Serian (8), Sarikei (4), Bau (3), Asajaya (2), Tanjung Manis (2), Betong (2), Bukit Mabong (2) and Selangau (2).

Meanwhile, Lundu, Tebedu, Simunjan, Dalat, Beluru and Sebauh districts recorded one case each.

This brings the cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Sarawak to 257,112.

Of the new cases reported, 246 cases were classified under Category 1 (asymptomatic) and 192 cases under Category 2 (mild symptoms).

The remaining three cases are classified as in the critical stage involving Category 3 patients who develop pneumonia.

As of today, no new deaths or clusters were reported in the State.

Members of the public are reminded to continue observing the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) as the fight against the pandemic has not been won yet, SDMC added. — DayakDaily
