KUCHING, Sept 5: The 2024 Sarawak-level Malaysia Day Assembly is expected to draw a crowd of 3,000 people at the Sri Aman Indoor Stadium Sports Complex in Sri Aman on Sept 16.

According to a TVS news report, Sarawak Minister for Education, Innovation, and Talent Development (MEITD) and minister-in-charge of the 2024 Sarawak-level Malaysia Day Celebration, Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, announced that the State-level celebration will span three days, beginning with an Interfaith Thanksgiving Ceremony and a ‘Konsert Rakyat’ on Sept 14.

On Sept 15, a Thanksgiving Ceremony will be held at the Sri Aman Town Mosque, followed by the main gathering the next day.

“We increased (the expected number of spectators) that day because we believe many people will attend but the stadium will be full and there won’t be enough seats. We will prepare a canopy (outside the stadium),” Sagah told reporters when met.

Earlier today, Sagah led a delegation from the Sarawak State Malaysia Day Celebration Committee to Astana Negeri Sarawak here to officially invite Sarawak Head of State (TYT), Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, to the event.

The minister also noted that the Sarawak TYT and his wife will be attending the event, alongside Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is scheduled to be present.

Also present were MEITD deputy minister Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, Sarawak Protocol, Ceremonial, and Event Management Unit (UPPANS) director Hamdan Sharbini, and Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) director Samuel Simon. — DayakDaily
