KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 25: The Sarawak spirit took centre stage in Kuala Lumpur today as the 16th edition of Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak (LBAS) gathered over 160 exhibitors and thousands of Sarawakians at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) for a day of networking, cultural celebration and inspiration.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof, who officiated the Sarawak Expo, said LBAS 2025 offers a valuable opportunity for Sarawakians residing in Peninsular Malaysia to reconnect with their roots while learning about the State’s latest policies and development plans.
“I encourage all Sarawakians in the Peninsula to come to MITEC today.
“Take this chance to gain insights into the State’s initiatives and planning so that together, we can continue to build a prosperous and thriving Sarawak,” he told reporters after launching the event.

The Sarawak Expo features three main segments — the Sarawak Dreams Exhibition with 79 government agencies, the Kampung Kamek Pavilion involving 10 key development agencies, and the Treasures of Sarawak showcase with about 75 local entrepreneurs offering Sarawak-made products and services.
Beyond the expo, a series of exciting activities add colour and inspiration to the programme—including the Kenyalang Career Initiative featuring job-matching and recruitment sessions, Kenyalang Speaks modelled after TED Talks by accomplished Sarawakians, the student pitching competition Croc’s Tank, and the lively Pocket Show and Sarawak Live Kitchen serving traditional favourites like Laksa Sarawak, Mee Kolok and Umai.
Other main highlights of LBAS 2025 include the Sarawak Agenda session, where Sarawakians will have a townhall with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg around 11am, and the Anak Sarawak Dinner with Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and other State leaders at 8pm.
Meanwhile, Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, who serves as the LBAS 2025 chairman, said the event continues to grow stronger each year with overwhelming response from participants.
“This is our 16th edition, and every year it gets more exciting. Tonight, we expect about 6,500 people at the dinner, with 650 tables prepared,” he said, thanking the Sarawak Volunteers and organising team for their tireless efforts.
Among those present were Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Dato Seri Nancy Shukri; Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Rubiah Wang; Deputy Minister of Economy Dato Hajjah Hanifah Hajar Taib; and Deputy Health Minister Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni. — DayakDaily
