KUCHING, Oct 17: More than 1,000 gravel roads in Batu Kawah constituency will be upgraded in phases.

Batu Kawah assemblyman Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian said over 600 roads have been upgraded in Phase 1.

“In Phase 2 and 3, another 500 roads mostly in Taman Desa Wira will be upgraded.

“Hence, more than 1000 gravel roads will be upgraded in the three phases under this initiative project with Phase 4 to be implemented soon, once the quotation and tender process has completed,” he said during an inspection on the project at Taman Desa Wira yesterday (Oct 16).

This project was initiated by Dr Sim to upgrade all access roads in the residential areas.

All the gravel road upgrading works are being handled by Padawan Municipal Council (MPP).

“This is a development project by the Sarawak government and together with the currently in progress drainage system upgrading project in the area, I’m sure it will make Taman Desa Wira an even more liveable place in the near future,” he added. — DayakDaily
