KUCHING, July 29: Sarawak is a great example of how to pioneer diversity in education and other states in Peninsular Malaysia could learn a lot from Sarawak’s approach.
According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Dato’ Sri Huang Tiong Sii, the establishment of higher education institutions under the initiative of the Sarawak government is an effort to provide opportunities for students to continue their studies at universities owned by the Sarawak government.
“An education expo is one source to ensure that students can get the latest information on educational opportunities available.
“By taking this opportunity, students can get the information they need to make a better decision about the educational institution they want to follow,” he said.
Huang, who is the Member of Parliament for Sarikei, said this while speaking at the Sarikei District Education Expo Programme on Saturday (27 July).
He hoped that students would take advantage of the expo to excel in their studies and realise Sarawak’s dream of becoming a developed region by 2030.
Huang congratulated the 112 outstanding students from Sarikei District, who performed with excellence in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2023 examination.
Also present were Sarikei Division Resident Micheal Ronnie Langgong, Sarawak Foundation representative Yantiska Mahmud, Sarikei District Officer Louis Yeo Soon Guan, Sarikei District Education Officer Lau Ngie Tung, students and parents. — DayakDaily
