KUCHING, Jan 29: International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon) Kuching today treated members of the public to 700 vegetarian meal packets at the 7th Mile Market.

When met by reporters, Iskcon Kuching chairman S. Krishnarao, known as Prabhu Krispa, said the meals were distributed as part of the Hare Krishna Food For Life programme, which is one of their monthly activities.

“It is one of the charity activities we carry out twice a month, sometimes once a month, and at least 700 packets of vegetarian food are distributed,” he said.

According to Prabhu, their congregation also goes to different places: the 3rd Mile Market, the old folks home, centres for the disabled and visually impaired, and the Cheshire Home.

Meanwhile, Pawadan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang, who was also present at the programme, complimented the non-profit organisation for their kind gesture to the local community.

“As I went around this morning, I could feel the warmth and the heartfelt thanks from our receivers from all works of life.

“I can’t help but feel the cohesiveness that exists among us in Sarawak,” he said. — DayakDaily
