SIBU, March 1: Opps Kopitiam is a place when the East meets the West, the old meets the young, effortlessly.
Located at Jalan Keranji in down town Sibu, Opps Kopitiam may not have a flashy signboard or elaborate decoration, but its charm lies in its simplicity. More than just a traditional coffeeshop, it seamlessly blends classic Foochow flavours with a diverse menu that caters to all.

Do not be deceived by its unassuming appearance, Opps Kopitiam serves some of the most authentic Foochow delicacies, including red wine chicken mee sua (wheat vermicelli) and zhao cai fen gan (preserved mustard rice noodles).
“We prepare the mee sua the way our grandmother taught us. For years, this is how we have been doing it.
“We keep the dish authentic and traditional. That’s why our soup is clear, unlike the reddish-tinted versions served elsewhere,” Got told D’Drift team.

Opps Kopitiam’s dedication to authenticity has won the hearts of both locals and visitors. Apart from that, their preserved mustard rice noodle, with the perfect balance of tartness, is another must-try.
But what truly sets Opps Kopitiam apart is its diverse menu. Alongside traditional Foochow dishes, the kopitiam offers Malay favourites like chicken rendang, nasi lemak, and beef rendang, as well as Western-style breakfasts.

Their toast with homemade peanut butter spread and, ham and cheese sandwich are some of the bestsellers, which is understandable, as the bread is fresh, firm but crunchy on the sides.
“We make our own peanut butter, that is why it is darker in colour. We make our own kaya (coconut egg spread) as well. Our American breakfast is very popular too.”
Whether you’re craving a taste of tradition or something more contemporary, Opps Kopitiam delivers. With its warm hospitality and thoughtfully curated menu, it is a place where generations, cultures, and flavours harmoniously meet. — DayakDaily
