KUCHING, Aug 14: The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has allowed open concept karaoke to operate starting tomorrow (August 15).

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the Ministry for Local Government and Housing (MLGH) is finalising the standard operating procedures (SOP) for the activity.

“The MLGH has presented the SOP for the open concept karaoke. Those include karaoke services which are being used at official ceremonies and social, music café and bistros.

“The operation is allowed starting August 15,” he said during a press conference here today.

Uggah who is deputy chief minister added that SDMC has also made a few decisions today, one of those including Sarawakians travelling outstation for official duties.

He said Sarawakians travelling to Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Labuan for official duties within two days are exempted from quarantine when they come back to Sarawak.

Uggah added they do not need to have their Covid-19 samples taken.

Nonetheless, Uggah who is Second Finance Minister said they would need to show their proof of travelling by bringing the letters approved by their head of departments or their employers indicating that they were travelling for official duties.

As for Sarawakians travelling outstation for more than two days, he said they will need to have their Covid-19 samples taken while they do not need to undergo quarantine. —DayakDaily
