LUNDU, July 8: Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang is optimistic that the affected projects in the constituency, including the Selampit Bridge project can be continued.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Billy recently conducted an official work visit to Kampung Selampit together with relevant agencies such as Public Works Department (JKR) and Land and Survey Department (LSD) to the location that has been set as the site for the construction of Kampung Selampit Bridge.
Apart from the construction of the Kampung Selampit Bridge, the construction of Jalan Kendaie-Selampit as an alternative road was also brought to his attention.
The estimated cost for the construction of the 200-metre long and 6.5-metre wide Selampit Bridge is around RM27.94 million and the construction cost of Jalan Kendaie-Selampit is estimated at RM72 million.
Both projects are among Billy’s efforts to fulfill his manifesto during the last State election in which he will work to resume the development in the Opar constituency which has been halted during its time being held under the Opposition.
The Bridge project, he said, must be expedited to benefit four villages namely, Kampung Kendaie, Kampung Bukit Batu, Kampung Pasir Tengah and Kampung Pasir Hilir aprt from reducing the travel time to Kuching city. — DayakDaily
