“Police personnel will be deployed at identified hotspots to create a safer and more comfortable environment for road users,” he said in a recent statement.

In addition to traffic management, the operation will also prioritise crime prevention, especially targeting house break-ins at homes left vacant during the festive holidays. Regular patrols will be conducted to ensure residential areas remain secure.

He added that all branches and departments under the Sarawak Police Contingent will participate in the operation, covering all districts in the State.

“Throughout the six-day operation, personnel will also focus on raising public awareness on road safety and compliance with traffic laws to help reduce accidents during the festive season, while ensuring smoother traffic movement,” he said.

Members of the public are encouraged to notify the police before leaving their homes via the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol (VSP) application, contacting or visiting the nearest police station, or submitting the balik kampung notification form available on the Royal Malaysia Police website or traffic portal.

“Police also reminded road users to remain vigilant and comply with traffic regulations at all times to ensure the safety of everyone on the roads during Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” he said. — DayakDaily
