Only those with ‘special permit’ allowed to purchase petrol, diesel with drums, plastic containers

Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi

KUCHING, July 28: Only those granted a special permit can purchase petrol and diesel using drums or any suitable containers, according to the daily quantity approved.

Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the special permit is free of charge and open to all qualified parties.

“However, this special permit is only required when purchasing quantities exceeding 20 litres. Any purchases that are under 20 litres including emergency cases are allowed without the special permit.

“Those who wish to apply for a special permit can do so through the Mysubsidi Permit Khas system online through the portal or visit any nearby KPDNHEP office,” he said in a statement today.

As of now, Nanta said, forklift users, those in the agricultural sector and farming, food industry entrepreneurs, rural residents, water transport users, and part-time fishermen are among those granted such permits.

“To avoid misuse of controlled and subsidised goods such as petrol and diesel by irresponsible parties, any small-scale companies, organisations or individuals are only eligible to purchase petrol and diesel from gas stations for private use with the condition of having to apply for the permit under Supply Control Act 1961,” he added. — DayakDaily
