MIRI, August 12: Nine people were nabbed when police raided an online gambling den in Jalan Temengong Datuk Oyong Lawai, Marina Square Phase 2, on Saturday night.
Those arrested, including a manager and two female workers of the illegal joint, were aged between 22 and 39. One of the female workers is a Thai national.
Miri police chief SAC Lim Meng Seah said, “Upon inspecting the premises, we believe it has been running as an online gambling processing centre.
“They have all been working here for less than six months, working from 11.30pm to 7am (on the following day).”
In all, 18 computers and other electronic devices were seized; however, no money was seized as all transactions were cashless.
