Online applications for RM1,500 aid for unregistered hawkers, petty traders open Apr 24

KUCHING, Apr 23: Unregistered hawkers and petty traders can start applying online for the RM1,500 Sarawakku Sayang Special Aid (SSSA), to be credited into their Sarawak Pay account, tomorrow (Apr 24).

Permanent secretary to the Ministry of Local Government and Housing Datu Antonio Kahti Galis said that the site will be linked to all local councils’ websites.


“The due date for application is May 31, 2020 and the permit will be valid from April until September 2020.

“The permit fee of RM30 per month shall be waived during this period (Movement Control Order),” he said in a press statement today.

Antonio advised applicants to register for a Sarawak Pay account to receive the RM1,500 aid.

“However, those unable to register for Sarawak Pay account due to acceptable reasons, payment will be in the form of cash,” he added.

The payment of the RM1,500 assistance for petty traders and operators in this category, he pointed out will be released in June or July by crediting to their Sarawak Pay accounts or by cash through Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN).

“Information regarding cash payment to successful applicants will be made known soonest possible,” he said.

Meanwhile, RM1,500 aid for registered hawkers in the latest SSSA 2.0 initiatives was aimed at assisting and relieving the hardship of petty traders and hawkers including eatery food stalls impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and MCO throughout Sarawak.

It was also extended to petty traders and operators who do not have licences or permits but they were required to register and obtain permits from their respective local councils.—DayakDaily
