SELANGAU, June 6: One person was killed while two others sustained injuries following an accident involving a tanker truck and a sedan car at Jalan Stapang Selangau-Sibu today.
A Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak spokesperson said they received a report regarding the accident at 6.57am and a Selangau Fire and Rescue Station team was deployed to the scene.
“On arrival at the scene, it was found that it was an accident involving a tanker truck and a Proton Saga.
“A victim was found trapped in the back seat of a Proton Saga and was confirmed dead by the Health Officer from Sekuau Clinic on the spot,” said the spokesperson in a statement today.
The sedan car driver and another passenger were sent to Sekuau Clinic using a Ministry of Health ambulance before the arrival of the Selangau Bomba team.
“Selangau Bomba immediately proceeded to remove the victim trapped in the back seat of the Proton Saga car using rescue equipment,” said the spokesperson.
The victim’s body was then handed over to the police for further action.
Meanwhile, the truck driver was reported to be uninjured. — DayakDaily
