KUCHING, Aug 6: A man was killed while three others were injured when a Perodua Myvi crashed into a signpost along Jalan Merbau near Kuching Port in the early hours of this morning.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) reported that the crash was a single-vehicle accident involving four adult occupants, consisting of three men and one woman, who were found still inside the vehicle when rescuers arrived at the scene at 3.27am.
According to operation commander PBK I Tahir Tuah, two male victims and one female victim were conscious but injured, while another male victim was unconscious and later confirmed dead by Health Ministry (KKM) paramedics on site.
Firefighters from Tabuan Jaya station, assisted by the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit from Padungan station, used special equipment to stabilise and stretch the damaged vehicle before successfully extricating all four victims.
The surviving victims were given initial treatment on site before being rushed to Sarawak General Hospital, while the deceased was handed over to the police for further action.
The operation, which involved 12 personnel and three rescue vehicles (one CFRT, one EMRS, one Hilux), ended at 5am.
Also present at the scene were officers from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), KKM and the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM). — DayakDaily
