BINTULU, March 17: A 64-year-old man died while his wife and daughter were injured when the car they were travelling in was involved in a single-vehicle crash near the Kidurong/Samalaju traffic light intersection at about 3.30pm today.

The dead has been identified as Low Tze Hian. He died on the spot after being thrown out of the car and landed on a grassy area.

His 62-year-old wife and 25-year-old daughter were taken to Bintulu Hospital.

State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, who confirmed that Low died at the scene of the accident, said the ill-fated vehicle was driven by Low’s daughter.

Preliminary investigation revealed that she lost control of the car and it skidded upon reaching a sharp bend near the traffic light intersection.

Alexson added that the three of them were on their way to Bintulu from Miri when the tragedy struck.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
