“However, based on current trends, we are now projecting the total revenue for 2025 to reach RM12.1 billion.

“This marks a reduction of RM2.1 billion, or 15 per cent, from our original estimates of RM14.2 billion. The primary factor contributing to this shortfall is the sustained decline in global crude oil prices, which have hovered at an average of USD69 per barrel throughout the year,” he said when delivering the 2026 Sarawak Budget Speech during the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting here, today.

Abang Johari said the RM10.3 billion collected so far is driven mainly by state sales tax amounting to RM3.9 billion, which is dominated by petroleum products at RM2.9 billion, followed by crude palm oil and palm kernel oil at RM801 million, aluminium at RM64 million, lottery at RM59 million, timber products at RM21 million, ferro-alloys at RM20 million and polysilicon at RM9 million.

The State also received RM2.2 billion in cash compensation in lieu of oil and gas rights, RM1.1 billion in dividend income, RM640 million in interest and investment returns, RM562 million in raw water royalty, RM232 million in land premium and RM209 million in forestry receipts.

Other revenue streams include RM120 million in cash compensation in lieu of imports and excise duties on petroleum products, RM744 million in federal grants and reimbursements and RM593 million from various other sources such as mining royalties, water sales and land rents. – DayakDaily
