KUCHING, March 20: Based on the subsisting Oil Mining Ordinance 1958 (OMO 58) and by natural rights universally recognised, oil and gas (O&G) found in Sarawak are Sarawak’s own, political analyst Dato Peter Minos affirms.
In a statement, he said, “OMO58 supersedes PDA74. Also, the Petroleum Development Act 1974 (PDA 74) had not been properly passed, having never been consented to by the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly as required by Sarawak’s constitution.
“If our land is ours by law SLC57 (Sarawak Land Code) so pari passu our oil and gas is ours by law OMO58. So is our 200-mile continental shelf. Clear and simple.
“No force in the world can deprive our legal and natural rights.”
He further commended GPS Senators for their concerted efforts in defending Sarawak’s oil and gas claims, highlighting the importance of collective action in safeguarding the State’s resources.
“We cannot in good conscience leave it all to our Premier (Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg).
“It is Sarawakians duty to fight and struggle for what is right, just and fair.
“GPS and the Premier had done its part and now it is time for all fellow Sarawakians to chip in and support,” Minos said. – DayakDaily
