KUCHING, Nov 29: OceanMight Sdn Bhd (OMSB), the oil and gas (O&G) unit and a subsidiary of KKB Engineering Berhad (KKBEB), recorded a significant milestone of 150,000 man-hours without LTI (Lost Time Injury) and 354 safe working days for the Kasawari Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Project.
KKEB Group, in a press release today, said OMBS also recorded 300 days of meeting quality KPI (key performance indicator).
“The CCS project is the first in Malaysia for the Kasawari Phase II project and is located in Block SK316 about 200 kilometres off of Bintulu.
“OceanMight Sdn Bhd was awarded the contract for the fabrication of bridge, piles, and boat-landing of the KCCS project by Malaysia Marine & Heavy Engineering (MMHE) in November 2023,” it said.
The group said it is not the first project OceanMight has collaborated with MMHE. In July 2020, OMSB was awarded a contract for the provision of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the flare platform for the Kasawari Gas Development Project.
It also said that subsequently, in 2022, a contract was awarded to OMSB by MMHE for the provision of fabrication, engineering, supervision, manpower, necessary equipment/tools, and consumables for the piles fabrication, loadout, and sail away of the Jerun Central Processing Platform with combined tonnage for the three projects at approximately 8,500 tonnes.
The safety and quality celebration was attended by senior management and staff from Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), MMHE, OMSB, and KKB Engineering Berhad.
OceanMight was licensed by PETRONAS in 2013, and since 2014, it has competitively tendered for works both locally and overseas and was awarded a total of seventeen projects of which fifteen were completed safely and handed over to clients, with two currently in progress.
As of October 2024, the mentioned projects completed successfully (and ongoing ones) recorded a combination of over 10,029,868 million nan-hours with zero LTI.
“To all team and project members of OMSB, I would like to extend our congratulations and salute your dedication to HSE and quality achievements,” said the group managing director of KKB Engineering Berhad and director of OceanMight, Kho Pok Tong. — DayakDaily
