KUCHING, June 1: Not all heroes wear capes, but some certainly fly, and this was the case for a resident of Kampung Ba Itam Asal who was in critical condition and needed urgent treatment.
In a Facebook post, Telang Usan assemblyman Dato Dennis Ngau said he was travelling from Miri to Kampung Long Kevuk when he received a call informing him of the resident’s critical condition and the urgent need for medical evacuation assistance.
Upon receiving the call, a ‘Bomba Mercy Flight’ operation was carried out to airlift the resident to a hospital for urgent treatment, as the former logging road that serves as the main access route for residents was cut off due to damage and had collapsed.
Dennis expressed his appreciation to the Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Division, the Miri Divisional Health Department, the Miri Resident’s Office, the residents of Ba Itam Asal and Ba Itam Bunau, as well as the director of Miri Hospital, for their cooperation with his request to carry out the mercy flight.
He also thanked healthcare workers, community leaders, and villagers who had assisted throughout the mission, lauding them for working together and playing their respective roles in ensuring the success of the operation.
“I pray that the patient receives the best possible treatment and is blessed with a full recovery.
“Thank you to everyone who helped save the life of a resident from the remote interior of Telang Usan,” he said. — DayakDaily
