KUCHING, Feb 8: The Northern Zone emerged as the overall champion of the fourth Sarawak Games (SUKSAR) 2026, amassing a total of 108 medals, including 39 gold, 37 silver, and 32 bronze, edging out other zones in a closely contested state-wide competition.
Across Sarawak, young athletes from every corner competed in multiple sports, showcasing skill, determination, and preparation.
The Northern Zone stood out with a strong performance, reflecting remarkable depth in talent. Southern Zone secured second place with 82 medals, including 30 gold, 28 silver, and 24 bronze, followed by Central Zone with 75 medals and Western Zone with 70 medals.
Among the standout performers were Zhen Xiang Kenny Lim from the Southern Zone and Nur Ain Ramadhania Abdullah from the Western Zone.
Kenny Lim dominated the men’s cycling events, winning four gold medals in the individual road race, team road race, individual time trial, and team time trial.
Meanwhile, Nur Ain Ramadhania secured four gold medals in women’s cycling, triumphing in the criterium, individual time trial, individual road race, and team road race.
The Northern Zone’s overall victory at SUKSAR 2026 highlights the growing competitiveness and talent development in Sarawak’s youth sports, setting the stage for the State’s athletes to shine in national competitions such as the Malaysia Games (SUKMA). — DayakDaily
