LAWAS, March 26: Kampung Siang-Siang here has been flooded five feet deep this afternoon, affecting about 350 people from 34 families.
According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) report, they received an emergency call on the flood situation at 12.13pm.
However, no victims were evacuated as the water level has shown a decreasing trend.
Meanwhile, in Nanga Ngungun, Kanowit, a two-feet deep flood on the same afternoon caused 28 residents of Rh Suzie and Rh Nyalong to be evacuated.
“For safety reasons, Bomba used ‘sampan’ (boat) owned by locals to evacuate the victims to Dewan JKKK Nanga Ngungun temporary evacuation centre (PPS).
“The 28 victims comprised of one elderly, 17 adults, nine children and one infant,” Bomba stated. — DayakDaily
