KUCHING, Dec 20:  This Combined Christmas Service 2019 was a celebration for both Christians and non-Christians.

Association Churches of Sarawak (ACS) secretary-general Elder Ambrose Linang said the Combined Christmas gathering on Thursday evening (Dec 19) saw the attendance of leaders of all faiths including Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism and BahaI, among others.

“We were very touched by their presence and their acceptance.  It was such a blessed fellowship where both Christians and non-Christians celebrated Christmas together.

“We thank all of them for their attendance.  Their openness and acceptance augurs well for Sarawak, a State advocating freedom of religion where there is mutual respect between all  religions or faiths,” Ambrose told Dayakdaily.

He said as previous years, the venue was fully packed with some 2,500 attending the service.

“And like previous years, (Deputy Chief Minister) Datuk Amar Douglas (Uggah Embas) was with us.  He has been attending the Combines Christmas Service without fail for the last few years,” said Ambrose.

He said this year, the Combined Choir had an amazingly beautiful presentation of Christmas carols and hymns and he urged those who have not been joining the annual Combined Christmas to come next year.
