No specific timeline set on acquisition of Bintulu Port by Sarawak govt, says chairman

KUCHING, April 27: No specific timeline has been set for the acquisition of Bintulu Port by the Sarawak government, says Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad chairman Dato Abdul Mutalib Alias.

According to Mutalib, currently, the discussion is still ongoing and they are being kept abreast on the latest developments.

ā€œWe will support both the State and Federal government decision and announcement with regards to the matter,ā€ he told a press conference at a local hotel here today.

He said as far as the day-to-day operations are concerned, it is business is as usual for the port.

ā€œIn the meantime, the board and the management are geared up and ready to take whatever necessary action to support the outcome of the process,ā€ he added.

Yesterday (April 26), Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said that the Sarawak government is now aggressively pursuing negotiations with the Federal government to regain control of Bintulu Port. ā€” DayakDaily
