KUCHING, June 3: No one should pressure Prime Minister Dato Sri Ismail Sabri Yakoob into calling for an early 15th General Election (GE15), says political pundit Dato Peter Minos.
“Only the prime minister (PM) has the legal power and right to advise the Agong on the dissolution of Parliament and thus of holding the (15th) general election.
“(It is) best and wise to leave the PM alone to decide at his total discretion, and nobody must put any pressure on him,” he said.
Minos, who is also Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman, said Malaysia has just begun to recover from the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, and now is not the right time for heavy politicking.
He said most Malaysians only want to focus on economic recovery at least until the end of this year so that they could slowly pick up their lives.
“We have until May next year for the GE. Why not wait and exercise a little bit of patience? Why rush?” he asked in a statement today. — DayakDaily
